Dr Ankur Bhatnagar
General Practitioner
MBBS · FRACGP · DCH
01About
Dr Ankur Bhatnagar is an experienced General Practitioner with a particular interest in paediatrics, men’s health, allergy and dermatology.
Having worked across Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria, including metropolitan, regional and after-hours medicine, Ankur brings a broad perspective to general practice and an understanding that every patient arrives with a different story, different concerns and different expectations of their care.
For Ankur, a good consultation starts with listening.
General practice, across every stage of life
Ankur completed his medical degree at Deakin University before undertaking his GP registrar training in Toowoomba and becoming a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.
His medical career has taken him across the Gold Coast, Brisbane, Sydney and regional Queensland, alongside extensive experience in after-hours medicine.
He has a particular interest in caring for children and families, having completed a Diploma in Child Health through the University of Sydney, as well as men’s health, allergy and dermatology.
Before studying medicine, Ankur also completed a Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Science at Griffith University, giving him an additional foundation in medicines and pharmaceutical science.
A consultation that starts with listening
Ankur believes good general practice is built around communication.
He places particular importance on giving patients the opportunity to explain what is concerning them, listening carefully and addressing those concerns early in the consultation.
From there, his approach is collaborative. Ankur wants patients to understand the clinical reasoning behind their care and to be involved in the decisions that follow.
It means combining medical knowledge with something much simpler: taking the time to understand the person sitting in front of you.
General practice, the Nuevo way
For Ankur, one of the strengths of Nuevo Medical is what happens beyond the GP consultation.
General practitioners work alongside medical specialists, allied health practitioners and other healthcare professionals within the same centre, creating opportunities for different parts of a patient’s care to be more closely connected.
Whether a patient needs the ongoing support of their GP, specialist input, further investigation or allied health care, Ankur values being able to draw on interdisciplinary expertise and work collaboratively with the broader Nuevo team.
It reflects the kind of general practice he believes in: accessible, collaborative and connected around the patient.
Beyond medicine
Ankur speaks English and Hindi, allowing him to consult with patients in either language.
Outside medicine, he enjoys music, reading, cricket, football and driving.
