01The program

Structure Around the Metabolic Risk Factors

The cardiometabolic health program on the Gold Coast is being developed to sit alongside clinical management of metabolic risk factors. The final program structure, inclusions and clinician involvement are still being confirmed. Entry will follow an assessment, with clinical management of the underlying factors continuing through cardiometabolic risk management. Entry follows an assessment. Call 1300 068 386 to enquire.

02What's involved

What the Program Involves

The program combines several components rather than exercise alone.

  • 01

    Exercise physiology sessions

Supervised exercise prescribed against your assessment findings and any precautions specified. Sessions are conducted in our rehabilitation facility rather than followed independently.

  • 02

    Dietetic input

Nutrition assessment and planning where diet forms part of the clinical picture. This is coordinated with the pathology your practitioner is monitoring.

  • 03

    Measurement and monitoring

The measurements taken at entry are repeated at set intervals. This is what allows the program to be adjusted rather than run unchanged.

  • 04

    Practitioner reporting

Findings are reported back to your referring GP or cardiologist. The program runs within their plan rather than parallel to it.

03Entry

How Entry to the Program Is Assessed

Entry begins with an assessment rather than an enrolment. Your exercise physiologist reviews the referral and the management plan, including any precautions your GP or cardiologist has specified, then takes a history covering conditions, medications, current activity and anything that limits you physically. Physical testing establishes current capacity, and relevant clinical measurements are recorded as a baseline. Bringing recent pathology results, specialist correspondence and a current medication list means the assessment works from actual clinical detail. Your practitioner then sets out what the program would involve, including session frequency, duration and what will be measured at review. Whether the program is appropriate remains a clinical decision made with your referring practitioner rather than a matter of signing up.

04Questions

FAQs

The final program structure and clinician involvement are still being confirmed. The specific content will be determined following an individual assessment.

Referral arrangements vary, though entry to a clinically supervised program follows an assessment in all cases. A GP or specialist determines whether a program is clinically appropriate.

The physical and clinical measurements taken at the initial assessment are repeated at set intervals during the program. Those comparisons inform whether the prescription is adjusted.
